A Federal Climate Policy Update
On June 28, 2010 BC3’s Federal Climate Policy Update was held at Gap Inc. at 2 Folsom Street.
Audience members enjoyed an interactive, fast-paced discussion on a range of topics. Our speakers discussed the basics of recent bills and their prospects in the Senate, the political tradeoffs between a cap and trade scheme versus a carbon tax, how to use targeted messaging to persuade your audience, and what businesses can do to advocate for comprehensive climate legislation. Featured speakers were Melanie Nutter, Deputy District Director for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Jared Asch, National Director for Efficiency First, Derek Walker, Director of the California Climate Initiative for Environmental Defense Fund, and the moderator was Calla Ostrander, Climate Action Coordinator for the San Francisco Department of the Environment.
