On April 6, BC3 members and non-members gathered at the San Francisco Ferry Building for a workshop on clean transportation solutions for businesses in the Bay Area. The morning session focused on transforming company fleets to clean vehicles. Attendees heard from various government agencies and businesses on the variety of alternative fuel vehicles, their benefits and limitations, the incentives and infrastructure available, as well as case studies from businesses with successful fleet conversions.

During the lunch hour attendees took a break to mingle and network while touring a selection of alternative fuel vehicles, including Google’s RechargeIt plug-in hybrid, SF Environment’s Nissan Leaf, Azure Dynamics' Transit Connect electric vehicle, and Bauer Transportation's Luxury Motor Coach.

The afternoon session focused on how to provide ‘alternative commuting’ options for employees. Speakers presented information on using Transportation Demand Management (TDM) to effectively reduce transit trips, the models and programs for encouraging car sharing and ride sharing, as well as ways to encourage and promote use of alternative transportation by employees.
