Climate Policy: Staying Competitive in a Changing Landscape - Apr. 29th, 2009
Event Summary
This event addressed the changing climate policy landscape and the impacts that will face US small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as the world moves from a carbon-intensive to a low-carbon economy. The Bay Area's SMEs will have to move up the innovation curve. Even firms that are not directly engaging in international trade are vulnerable due to the fact that their international competitors will be seeking efficiency gains to cut their carbon exposure and input costs, making them more competitive in our market. Bay Area SMEs need to be able to understand how the rules of the game are likely to shift, where their vulnerability lies, and how to turn this challenge into a win-win situation that will enhance their ability to compete and ultimately create jobs here at home. Especially in this time of economic crisis, SMEs need to understand the reward/risk equation and how to maximize the rewards while minimizing the risks.Presented by:
