Our organization has calculated a greenhouse gas baseline, using protocols from the World Resources Institute (GHG Protocol), and The Climate Registry (TCR). This baseline helps to define a starting point against which future progress can be measured.
Our organization has developed a GHG-reduction plan, or Climate Action Plan, in order to minimize GHG emissions. It can be found at http://www.esassoc.com/downloads/esa_sustainability_plan_secure.pdf.
Moreover, we have set a GHG/carbon reduction goal, which is to reduce total company GHG emissions from our 2007 baseline by 20% on a per capital basis by 2012.
Our organization has a Sustainability Team responsible for addressing internal sustainability issues. The team is organized around three separate areas: Operations, communications, and professional development. The team includes company officers, directors, and lower-level staff. Policies and plans developed by the team are approved by the Board of Directors. The team meets several times per year.
