Fighting Carbon Emissions One Drop at a Time - Feb. 19th, 2009
Event Summary
Water Seminar Hosted by HydroPoint
On Thursday, February 19, 2009 the BC3 hosted an event titled, "Fighting Carbon Emissions One Drop at a Time." The event took place in the San Francisco offices of SHIFT Communications, and was presented by Tom Ash, Director of Conservation for HydroPoint Data Systems, and David Zetland, S.V. Ciriacy-Wantrup Postdoctoral Fellow in Natural Resource Economics and Political Economy at U.C. Berkeley.
Ash and Zetland engaged members with an interactive discussion about the impact of water waste on climate change, outlining the powerful relationship between water consumption, energy use and carbon emissions. Attendees learned about how long-term drought
conditions, aging infrastructure and population growth are resulting in increased government regulation over water use as well as sharply rising water rates. Zetland shared effective policy strategies for encouraging more efficient water use, and Ash related stories of organizations that have implemented water efficiency programs for environmental and financial gains.
