Orchard Garden Hotel Networking Event
On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 60+ attendees from BC3 member and non-member companies gathered at the Orchard Garden Hotel's Roots Restaurant to meet and mingle for BC3's quarterly networking event. Participants also enjoyed tours of the hotel's green features with the sales team, while sampling sustainable wine from Parducci Wine Cellars and locally sourced appetizers from Roots Restaurant.
Director of SF Environment Melanie Nutter gave brief remarks about the important interdependent relationship between the public and private sector in addressing climate change. Melanie emphasized that San Francisco can only achieve its ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals by working together as a community, and highlighted BC3 as a unique space for business-to-business and business-to-government collaboration on climate issues. She also announced the date for the Mayor's Earth Day Breakfast (April 20) and donated three seats to BC3 to raffle to new sponsors and existing members.
Following Melanie's remarks, Orchard Hotel General Manager Stephan Muhle spoke about the Orchard Hotel's commitment to sustainability and the process that lead and inspired the hotel's "green" campaign. The Orchard Garden Hotel was the third U.S. hotel to receive LEED certification (and the fourth in the world); it is also certified by the Green Seal Environmental Standard and is a San Francisco Certified Green Business. Thank you to our committed BC3 member The Orchard Hotels for hosting a fantastic event! Many thanks also to Parducci Winery for the excellent selection of sustainable reds and whites.
