Director

Melissa Capria is interim director of the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3), a public-private partnership between local government and the business community that works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in San Francisco through collaboration and direct action. Melissa is a climate change policy specialist with more than 12 years experience working on developing climate protection strategies and programs. Ms. Capria sat on the BC3 Advisory Committee in her most recent position as a Senior Climate Change Analyst at SAIC. In 2005 she helped launch BC3 while serving as the Climate Action Coordinator for the San Francisco Department of the Environment.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee (AC) is the acting governing body of BC3, comprised of member volunteers, and partner and co-sponsor representatives. This team is responsible for determining the overall strategy and programs offered by BC3, as well as for the hiring and management of the director. Climate Action
Interns

BC3's Climate Action Interns work on three-month rotations to provide programmatic, development, and research support. We are always looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our team. Stephanie Leung recently completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Environmental Studies. She has also studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she learned a lot about the city's urban ecosystem, sustainable city planning, and transportation system. She is very excited to work in San Francisco, which, like Copenhagen, is one of the world’s leading sustainable cities.  She feels very fortunate to be able to work with the BC3 team and be a part of an organization that works with San Francisco's private businesses and government sector to address the issues of climate change. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys exploring the Bay Area.

Latifa Laanatza has previously worked on the Mayor of London's Volunteer Program for the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. She has a program and project management background and is now steering her career towards sustainability and climate change issues. She sees BC3 as the perfect place to learn as much as possible about the green sector in her new home town, build a network and contribute to the amazing work BC3 does. Latifa recently moved from London to San Francisco, she already loves it here and wants to dedicate her time and effort towards making San Francisco the greenest city in the world.
