Director

Picture
Katherine Michonski is director of the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3), a public-private partnership between local government and the business community that works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in San Francisco through dialogue, collaboration, and direct action. Prior to joining BC3, Katherine worked on international climate and energy policy as a research associate in the program on energy security and climate change at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. She also volunteers support for EarthSpark International, a nonprofit organization that works to alleviate energy poverty in Haiti. Katherine graduated from the University of Chicago where she founded the school's first sustainability council. She is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and participates in the San Francisco hub.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee (AC) is the acting governing body of BC3, comprised of member volunteers, and partner and co-sponsor representatives. This team is responsible for determining the overall strategy and programs offered by BC3, as well as for the hiring and management of the director. Climate Action
Interns

BC3's two Climate Action Interns work on three-month rotations to provide programmatic, development, and research support. Kathy Vining graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz with majors in global economics and politics. She is particularly interested in understanding how communities, businesses and public entities can promote economic growth in a socially beneficial and environmentally sustainable way. She joins BC3 with a background in environmental advocacy and international development and is most excited about the opportunity to learn more about public-private partnerships and current climate strategies. Kathy looks forward to working with San Francisco’s business community and using her enthusiasm for sustainability initiatives to support BC3’s mission. 
Cody Field is interested in progressive leadership, policy analysis, and advancing climate justice. Raised in the Bay Area, Cody is dedicated to helping San Francisco lead the way in promoting positive climate practices, and sees BC3 as a vital tool in this process. With a deep rooted passion for social consciousness and communal connectivity, his work focuses on advancing climate awareness with action. Cody has sailed throughout the world, is a licensed captain, and holds an honors degree in international relations from San Francisco State University.
