The Private Sector and the City: How Can We Work Together to Achieve San Francisco's GHG Goals?
Melissa Fifield, Gap; Bill Peterson, New Resource Bank; Calla Ostrander, SF Environment.
The business advisory panel to the San Francisco Climate Action Plan has convened twice this year to discuss the actions proposed under the revised plan, and to share ideas with the city on how the commercial sector can contribute to meeting the city's ambitious greenhouse gas reductions goals. During this session, two panel participants presented on the SF CAP process and the group's recommendations and suggestions for further action. Calla Ostrander also presented on the entire community outreach process, and took questions from BC3 members on the Climate Action Plan.
Fostering Sustainable office Space: Providing Tenants with the Tools to Engage * * LAUNCH OF NEW PROJECT TEAM * *
Zorana Bosnic, HOK; Barry Hooper, SF Environment; Jennifer Berg, Concept Green, LLC.
As outlined in the Mayor’s December 2009 Existing Commercial Buildings Task Force, energy savings and sustainability goals in commercial buildings are often not maximized due to split incentives between tenants and property owners. The Task Force recommended creating a "Green Tenant Toolkit" to resolve split incentives by helping tenants and landlords mutually benefit from reduced utility costs and sustainable operations. BC3 is convening a new project team to create this toolkit. During this session, HOK showcaseD their Occupant Engagement Program (OEP), which helps property owners and tenants in their efforts to promote and implement efficiency and sustainability among occupants.
